TIFFCOM

Toward TIFFCOM 2025 -Greetings from the CEO of TIFFCOM and the Managing Director of TIFFCOM-

This year marks the 22nd edition of TIFFCOM. Last year, the event welcomed over 4,000 industry professionals from 38 countries and regions, making it one of the largest editions to date. With growing interest in international co-productions and Japanese IP, overseas participation increased by 125% compared to the previous year. We are proud that TIFFCOM continues to play a vital role as a hub for content business in Asia and as a gateway for Japanese audiovisual content to expand globally.

15 seminars featured key figures and creators from various countries, attracting over 2,000 cumulative attendees—many sessions were fully booked. Visitor registrations, including buyers, producers, and investors, rose by 15% year-on-year. According to post-event surveys, approximately 80% of those respondents said they had developed new business relationships, and nearly half engaged in negotiations beyond completed content. We are honored that TIFFCOM is recognized as a market that responds to the players and needs of the increasingly diverse content industry.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued participation and support. This year as well, in addition to the buying and selling of content, we hope to create even more opportunities and meaningful connections by sharing the latest industry insights and advancing international co-productions through producer networks.

At TIFFCOM 2025, we will once again expand our venue, which will be centered around the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center HAMAMATSUCHO-KAN, even further than last year in order to provide more fruitful opportunities for networking and business negotiations. We received exhibitor applications at a faster pace than last year, and are pleased to see participation from an increasing number of new countries and regions. Furthermore, this year we are actively working to strengthen partnerships with ASEAN countries, and we are planning initiatives and programs that foster collaboration by leveraging cross-regional connections.

In addition, we are preparing approximately 15 seminars again this year, offering a diverse and comprehensive lineup that covers a wide range of practical and cutting-edge topics, including international co-productions, market trends across various Asian countries, IP strategies, and the latest developments in the overseas expansion of Japanese content.

In response to the growing demand for screen adaptations of Japanese intellectual property, including manga, anime, and games, the Tokyo Story Market, which is now entering its third year, will be rebranded as the Tokyo IP Market: Adaptation & Remake. In addition to publishers that hold the original rights to works for audiovisual adaptation, this year we welcome participation from production companies holding remake rights, further expanding the range of IP available, including Japanese manga, novels, and more. Together with the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM), which supports financing for feature films, we hope TIFFCOM will serve as a key platform to connect Japanese and international producers interested in adaptations and help bring new audiovisual works to life.

TIFFCOM is not only a hub for Japanese and Asian creative industries centered in Tokyo, but also a launching point where ideas and partnerships take shape, as it goes beyond the mere buying and selling of content. We warmly welcome all professionals involved in audiovisual and IP to join us.
