Conference 3rd Wave Announced! TIFFCOM 2026 Highlights Presented at the Tokyo International Film Festival Lineup Press Conference

TIFFCOM 2026, now less than a month away, was introduced with highlights by Kaori Ikeda, the Managing Director of TIFFCOM, at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) Lineup Press Conference held on Thursday, October 1.

This year, alongside a wide range of content holders across film, TV and animation, TIFFCOM sees more technology exhibitors in AI and data analytics.

Conferences will include a keynote on the latest technology tools including AI in Hollywood, along with sessions on Japanese IP in global markets, the Anime Industry Report and more.

The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market, supporting international co-production and financing, brings together 24 live-action and animation projects from around the world, including a new project by Akira Yamamoto, whose latest film is in this year’s TIFF Competition and who appeared at today’s press conference.

The Tokyo IP Market, which expanded to Cannes this year, will present adaptation rights to Japanese manga and novels, as well as remake rights, to leading international IP buyers. Both markets will strengthen their pitch events alongside business meetings this year.

TIFFCOM also announced the third wave of its conference lineup, including “Beyond Country of Honour: Building the Next Global Partnerships with Japan,” a session with a representative of the Marché du Film reflecting on Japan’s role as Country of Honour in Cannes this year and exploring new opportunities for Japanese IP, co-production and global collaboration.

With a diverse lineup, TIFFCOM will once again support the content industry through a wide range of initiatives this year.
